Founded by Darrell "Boogie" Hitchens and his wife, Ollie Ann, Shelby Shells, Sand & Stone began as Hitchens Brothers Construction & Trucking Company, and was later renamed Shelby Trucking, after their grand daughter. The company's main focus was heavy payload hauling but the business grew to include heavy equipment rental and operating, excavating, site planning, construction & product supply. With the goal of always offering more services for their customers, Shelby was the first company to introduce crushed clamshells to the area.
